Key Responsibilities

Help promote reliability culture across Coinbase by contributing to system reliability and scalability initiatives.
Assist in scaling the system by 10-20x and help secure service configurations & secrets through building and enhancing world-class service configuration management systems.
Reduce customer incidents by building and enhancing Safe Release (canary-based deployment systems) capability and onboarding thousands of services with hundreds of deployments daily.
Manage multiple company-wide projects such as Scalability/Load testing, Configuration management system, and Canary-based safe release capability.
Work with the Core Reliability team to ensure system reliability and less customer impact.

Requirements

At least 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and high-quality, well-tested code development.
Strong technical skills in system design and coding.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a bias toward open, transparent practices.
Strong skills around observability, debugging, and performance tuning.
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and simply.
Strong interpersonal skills working with engineers from junior to principal levels.
Demonstrated critical thinking under pressure.
Willingness to understand, debug, and improve any layer of the stack.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with working in rapid growth environments.
Experience in Ruby, Go, and Terraform.
Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud environments.
Experience designing and building reliable systems.
Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
Experience writing company-facing blog posts and training materials.
Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
