About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer, Communities will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering cutting-edge eCommerce solutions using Magento 2.x. This role is primarily focused on backend development and will work in close collaboration with our long-term offshore dev vendor partner team to support both immediate feature initiatives and long-term platform modernization efforts. As a key member of the Scrum team, the engineer will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across product, UX, QA, and engineering. Responsibilities include contributing to solution design, driving code quality, and ensuring timely project delivery. While the role is backend-focused, the engineer will also support architectural planning and participate in the broader engineering community. The engineer will mentor other developers when applicable, design innovative solutions to complex technical challenges, contribute to technical documentation, and engage in code reviews and quality assurance processes. The role also requires coordination with the DevOps team to ensure seamless deployments and maintain operational stability. Success in this position requires deep expertise in Magento architecture, PHP, API development, and familiarity with cloud platforms and microservice architectures. Experience with Vue.js is a plus but not a core requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development and Maintenance: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, internal & offshore vendor dev teams to develop and maintain scalable, high-quality software solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Mentoring a team of developers to maximize productivity and efficiency, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Technical Innovation and Problem Solving: Designing and implementing innovative solutions to complex technical problems, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Technical Documentation: Developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of specifications.
- Quality Assurance and Code Review: Participating in code reviews, testing, and quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of software quality and performance.
- DevOps Collaboration: Working closely with the DevOps team to ensure seamless deployment and maintenance of applications.
- Industry Knowledge and Trends: Staying informed about the latest trends and developments in the software industry to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.

Requirements
- 7+ years Magento development
- 7+ years PHP development
- 5+ years CMS development
- Experience with enterprise-level Magento projects
- Bachelor's Degree
- Advanced understanding and application of Magento architecture
- Advanced proficiency in object-oriented programming principles and practices
- Advanced proficiency in PHP development and unit testing
- Advanced proficiency in CMS platforms for building templates and front-end components (Craft preferred)
- Experience with accessibility standards and best practices
- Ability to mentor and guide junior developers
- Intermediate proficiency in at least one cloud platform
- Foundational knowledge of microservice architecture
- Advanced proficiency in Vue.js and API development, including GraphQL or similar technologies
