About the Role

Collins Aerospace's Strategic Solutions team is seeking an exceptionally motivated Senior Software Engineer to support mission-critical defense systems supporting Mission Systems. The role involves collaborating with high-performance teams to develop high-quality software that shapes the future of NC3 defense systems for the armed forces. This onsite position in Richardson, TX offers opportunities for rapid learning, leadership growth, and impactful work in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Be an important part of a high-performing software team, collaborating with fellow Software engineers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Software Architects, and other teams.
Support requirements decomposition and derivation to produce Software Requirements.
Be responsible for producing high quality mission critical software.
Mentor junior engineers and interns.
Provide direct support to stakeholders, answering questions and solving technical issues.
Lead and participate in code and related artifacts peer reviews.

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience.
3+ years of experience with Object Oriented Development using Java and the ability to create complex software designs based on customer requirements.
3+ years of experience with development tool sets, including Jira, Git, Visual Studio Code.

Nice to Have

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance.
Experience with requirements analysis, requirements decomposition and derivation.
Experience with UML, SysML, MBSE, and CAMEO Modeling tools.
Experience with virtualization.
Knowledge of microservices, containers, and orchestrators.
Knowledge in OMS.
Knowledge of DevSecOps and CI/CD.
Experience with pub/sub bus such as ActiveMQ, DDS.
Experience with Agile SDLC.
Experience with Software Development for DoD contracts.
Implemented Graphical User Interfaces with Java frameworks, such as Swing or JavaFx.

Qualifications

Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or an advanced degree in a related field
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience depending on education level
