Job Description

About the Role

The Compute Access Platform team, part of Bloomberg's Platform Security organization, is responsible for designing and building systems and tools that control access to Bloomberg's development and production compute resources. The team develops and supports services to protect systems from unauthorized access and facilitate seamless access for users and services. The role involves working with industry standard protocols and open source tools, primarily focusing on secure access gateway infrastructure, authentication, and auditing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Actively contribute in defining both tools and architectural designs for secure access infrastructure.
Encourage, mentor, and train junior team members.
Stay up to date with industry standards regarding authentication, authorization, auditing, and open source projects.
Practice and promote the use of a modern software development lifecycle.
Autonomously develop technical solutions to achieve objectives and required service levels, performance, and economics.
Proactively research and follow industry trends, standard methodologies, and open source projects.

Requirements

4+ years of programming experience with an object-oriented programming language (Python or Go).
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience.
Experience integrating with encryption technologies such as PGP, TLS, etc., and authentication protocols like RADIUS, LDAP, KERBEROS.
Understanding of Unix or Linux authentication frameworks including PAM, SSH, SSSD, and others.

Nice to Have

A strong understanding of Unix or Linux.
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
Experience building and maintaining critically important distributed systems.

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar field, or equivalent work experience.

Salary range of $160,000 - $240,000 USD annually.
