About the Role

The Compute Access Platform team, part of Bloomberg's Platform Security organization, is responsible for designing and building the systems and tools that control access to Bloomberg's development and production compute resources. We build and support the service required to protect our systems from unauthorized access and allow users, services to access the compute resources seamlessly. Our applications are written in Python, Golang, C and Ruby. We are a mostly backend team, but some of our applications include UI components. We also work with industry standard protocols and tools such as LDAP, SSH and SCIM. We are looking for highly motivated, experienced engineers to help us design and build our next generation of secure access gateway infrastructure. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing authentication and auditing solutions based on industry standard protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Actively contribute in defining both tools and architectural designs
Encourage, mentor and train junior team members
Stay up to date with industry standards regarding authentication, authorization, auditing, and open source projects
Practice and promote the use of a modern software development lifecycle
Autonomously develop technical solutions to achieve objectives and required service levels, performance, and economics
Proactively research and follow industry trends, standard methodologies, and open source projects

Requirements

4+ years of programming experience with an object-oriented programming language (Python or Go)
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field of study or equivalent work experience
Experience integrating with ubiquitous encryption technologies (PGP, TLS, etc.) and common authentication protocols (RADIUS, LDAP, KERBEROS, etc.)
Understanding of Unix or Linux authentication frameworks including PAM, SSH, SSSD and others

Nice to Have

A strong understanding of Unix or Linux
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc...)
Experience building and maintaining critically important distributed systems

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field of study or equivalent work experience
