About the Role

Qualcomm is a company of inventors that unlocked 5G, transforming industries and creating new possibilities. The role involves working within Qualcomm's Target Power & Thermal Auto team to optimize power consumption and thermal performance for automotive applications, particularly focusing on complex workloads involving ADAS, CV2X, and 4G/5G data rates in connected vehicles. The position requires developing system-level software optimizations, algorithms, and techniques to improve power and thermal efficiency, especially related to Modem 4G/5G technology in the automotive segment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform system level software optimizations using hardware and software power/thermal management techniques.
  • Develop algorithms and techniques to optimize OS scheduler and other software components for better power and thermal performance.
  • Solve broad system level power and thermal problems in software.
  • Work on optimizing power consumption and thermal performance across various software platforms involving Android, HVX, etc.
  • Focus on Modem 4G/5G power optimization for automotive applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
  • Analytical skills to identify patterns in data.
  • Ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Creativity and ability to produce innovative ideas.
  • Decision-making skills to make quick, accurate decisions.
  • Organizational skills to get work done efficiently.
  • Knowledge of software engineering processes and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice to Have

  • Systems/HW background with understanding of microprocessor architecture and common SoC hardware blocks.
  • Knowledge of operating systems concepts such as scheduling, memory management, process management, interrupt handling, and device drivers.
  • Experience with debug tools like JTAG debugger, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of power or power/thermal management software development.
  • In-depth knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, SoC power, multimedia, and wireless communications.
  • Experience with system level debugging and analysis for SoC power optimizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
