About the Role

StubHub is seeking Senior Software Engineers to design and develop next-generation technologies and complex features. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of tackling significant, ambiguous, and non-trivial challenges as a core contributor and innovator, bringing creative technical solutions to life. You will also serve as an advocate and mentor for your team members, demonstrating leadership qualities and setting an example for those around you. The role involves working on a global, cross-border tax system that addresses intricate challenges of tax calculation and compliance across more than 40 currencies and numerous regions. The position is based in New York, NY, with a hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain impactful improvements across StubHub's platforms and products with agility and resulting in high-quality outcomes
Collaborate with team members to ensure best practices across our code
Own the technical design and roadmap for the Tax platform
Leverage expertise in building and operating high scale systems with a focus on reliability and quality of analyzed data

Requirements

6+ years of professional experience in software development
Extensive experience developing robust, mission-critical systems using general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C#)
Demonstrated expertise in building software with Infrastructure, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, API Design, and Distributed Systems
Previous experience designing and developing solutions to complex problems with significant business impact
Strong understanding of how systems interact with the broader production environment, including dependencies and platform primitives
Proven ability to learn other coding languages, platforms, frameworks, and tools
Experience owning projects from initial idea to production
Experience mentoring junior engineers

Nice to Have

Experience in building and operating high scale systems
Experience with cross-border tax systems or compliance regions
Leadership qualities and ability to serve as a mentor
