Job Description

About the Role

Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer (SWE) goes way beyond just Search. You not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a SWE Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. SWE teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way. YouTube is becoming the new TV, viewers increasingly consume it on connected TVs in the Living Room, making YouTube the #1 streamer in the U.S. for the last two years. YouTube is also where billions of viewers listen to music and podcasts. In this role, you will lead Engineering for YouTube Living Room, Music and Podcasts Ads. This is a tactical role, with ownership of several VP-level OKRs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Managers, UX Designers/Researchers, Program Managers, Data Scientists and Analysts) and executive Engineering stakeholders. You will develop a multi-year roadmap for these areas and launch features improving both business generation and the ad viewer experience, with a focus on innovation and 0->1 launches in areas such as shopping and non-disruptive ads. Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We're made up of multiple teams, building Google's Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
