Senior Staff Software Engineer, Monarch

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a portion of the team's overall end-to-end technical strategy.
• Contribute to an architectural refresh of our platform to improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability, partnering with executive technical leaders across Cloud to deliver the next transformation in Google's internal monitoring and alerting platforms.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
• Represent the team as a technical authority, building partnerships to drive design alignment and cross-functional success.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 5 years of experience in development and technical leadership in observability or monitoring and alerting.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.

Nice to Have

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits & Perks

• US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
• Additional benefits include bonus, equity, and other perks as determined by role, level, and location.
