About the Role

We are seeking a visionary and technically skilled Senior Test Automation Leader to drive the strategy, development, and execution of business line automation testing initiatives. This role blends deep automation engineering expertise with product leadership, agile delivery, and people development. The ideal candidate will lead efforts that improve quality, accelerate delivery, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the test automation strategy aligned with business line goals and product roadmaps.
  • Own the automation product backlog and roadmap, prioritizing high-impact features and capabilities.
  • Align automation initiatives with broader technical product lines and enterprise architecture.
  • Leverage OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) to drive roadmap priorities and performance outcomes.
  • Guide and inspire strong coding practices and sound software design decisions across automation teams.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of scalable automation frameworks and tools.
  • Ensure automation solutions meet performance, reliability, and security standards.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of comprehensive test plans, performance tests, and test data strategies.
  • Grow and mentor engineers in both technical skills and career development.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to support continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Partner with agile teams, product managers, and QA engineers to integrate automation into business line user experience testing.
  • Assist with cross-team strategic efforts, influencing decisions to achieve efficient delivery of business value.
  • Understand and advocate for cross-team technical roadmaps, identifying opportunities for new automation capabilities based on technical strategy and constraints.
  • Monitor and analyze automation performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Report on automation ROI, defect leakage, and test coverage to inform strategic decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, innovation, and stakeholder feedback.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in test automation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or strategic role.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, SDLC, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.
  • Proven experience with UI, Mobile and API automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, Cypress, Playwright, Test NG, JMeter.
  • Exposure to mainframe test automation tools.
  • Scripting languages including BDD/TDD.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Deep understanding of product technical architecture and technical investments economics.
  • Experience creating personas, story maps, product chartering/mapping.
  • Knowledge of enterprise technical alignment and performance measurement.
  • Experience with automation frameworks and tools that ensure performance, reliability, and security standards.
