About the Role

Kroger's Offers/Loyalty engineering team is seeking a software engineer to develop UI applications for internal Kroger users, focusing on the company's loyalty program. The role involves working on systems responsible for coupon setup, execution, redemption, and billing, impacting customer checkout transactions both in-store and online. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, testing, debugging, maintaining, and documenting software components in accordance to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices.
  • Establish estimates and work plans for design, development, implementation, and rollout tasks.
  • Communicate with appropriate teams to ensure high-quality delivery and adherence to standards.
  • Develop a high-quality codebase, lead design discussions, execute development against design, and navigate complex codebase.
  • Responsible for development implementation of technical design within a defined set of teams.
  • Participate in implementing enterprise standards across domains such as operations, infrastructure, data, applications, development, security & risk, and business continuance.
  • Provide technical clarity between ongoing projects and the company's strategic objectives.
  • Drive digital innovation by leveraging new technologies and approaches to improve existing systems.
  • Implement high-level migration plans to bridge current and future state solutions.
  • Lead analysis of the technology environment to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Mentor team members in software development principles, patterns, processes, and practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience designing and building web (Angular and/or React) apps with a proven track record of estimating and delivering on time and at high quality.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a STEM major.
  • 3+ years of experience leading the development of complex software and automation systems successfully delivered to customers.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and delivering large-scale, high-quality systems.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in software or infrastructure development, including design patterns and code structure.
  • Strong knowledge of industry trends and competition.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation/public speaking communication skills.
  • Proven ability to think and contribute at the strategic level.
  • Deep knowledge in at least two technical disciplines such as infrastructure and network design, application development, APIs, cloud, middleware, servers and storage, database management, or operations.
  • Understanding of network and security architecture.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Cloud software services including designing for scale, performance, and reliability.
  • Experience in system architecture.
  • Ability to build, mentor, and maintain an inclusive team environment.
  • Experience with elastic architectures, preferably Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Angular, React, OAuth, Java, Kubernetes, Cassandra, Azure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a STEM major.
