SMTS Software Development Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
• Understand and define software requirements and architecture.
• Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and internet-related tools.
• Define proprietary platforms, including hardware and software components.
• Drive software and systems solutions including development and product definitions.
• Work with cross-functional teams including engineers to develop system-level software, working on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
• Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance.
• Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision.
• Apply knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
• Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.

Requirements

• Degree required: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
• Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
• Alternate: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in the specified fields and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience.
• Two (2) years of experience in: Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies.
• GPU kernel programming utilizing CUDA, HIP, or OpenCL.
• Experience with Singularity, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Implementing and optimizing parallel methods on GPU accelerators.
• Memory management and multi-threading.
• Software debugging on macOS, Linux, or Unix.

Nice to Have

• Experience with GPU kernel programming utilizing CUDA, HIP, or OpenCL.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Singularity, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience in implementing and optimizing parallel methods on GPU accelerators.
• Knowledge of memory management and multi-threading.
• Proficiency in software debugging on macOS, Linux, or Unix.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in engineering roles related to software development and system design.
