About the Role

The Social Media Specialist at Scheels is responsible for building and executing social media strategies that promote the company's brand, culture, and products. This role involves collaborating across departments, creating engaging content, analyzing social media data, and promoting store initiatives such as the Scheels Visa Rewards card. The position supports Scheels' mission to provide an exceptional customer experience through expert product knowledge and community engagement, with mentorship and professional development being key components of the company's culture.

Key Responsibilities

Have a clear understanding of the Scheels brand and culture, while working as an ambassador to build our culture through our social media platforms
Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
Collaborate with all areas of the store & company to determine appropriate content
Generate, edit, publish and share content (original text, images, video or HTML), per the content plan that builds a meaningful connection and encourages community members to take action
Set up and optimize Scheels pages within each platform to increase the visibility of Scheels
Moderate all user-generated content online in line with the moderation policy for each community
Create editorial calendars and schedules
Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing social data, metrics, insights and best practices, then acting on the information
Identify opportunities to share the Scheels story
Create annual content strategy that promotes and aligns with store goals and fosters customer and store engagement
Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card and clearly explain all benefits
Execute posts/messages to drive sales, traffic, and community goodwill
Exercise sound judgment and tact in interactions with consumers, associates, and the community
Communicate effectively through strong oral/written skills
Work a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and some travel including overnight stays

Requirements

Experience in social media and ability to think strategically and creatively
Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills
Professional appearance and attitude
Ability to work assigned schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must possess a valid driver's license
Ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation
Physical ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10-25 pounds frequently
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field; or 2-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination
Ability to apply basic math, grammar, punctuation, and spelling

Nice to Have

Experience with content creation including text, images, video, or HTML
Knowledge of social media platform best practices and analytics
Experience promoting loyalty programs or store-specific campaigns

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field, or equivalent experience
2-5 years of related experience
