Job Description

About the Role

The role involves analyzing simulator system dependencies, determining requirements for new capabilities, managing hardware configurations and updates, and maintaining a nominal operating environment in a hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation lab. The position supports airborne platforms and ground support systems, with a focus on security, testing, and simulation framework development to help secure national skies. The candidate will review priorities, technical details, and collaborate with engineers to develop and automate testing processes, contributing to the defense of cyberspace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review priorities and concepts to identify requirements, system dependencies, and potential security weaknesses.
  • Analyze technical and environmental details from subject matter experts, engineering documentation, and engineers to recommend testing priorities.
  • Develop and configure simulation and data logging frameworks for test bed modifications.
  • Create automation scripts needed for synchronization of system components during testing execution.
  • Participate in integration, test execution, data aggregation, and reporting.
  • Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, industrial, military, communications, and aerospace computing applications.
  • Set operational specifications and analyze software requirements.
  • Apply principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to software development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a system software developer.
  • Experience with Python, C+, GitHub, and Jira.
  • Experience with avionics software and components or databases.
  • Experience with networking concepts, IP addressing, and Wireshark.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, time conscious, and goal-oriented.
  • Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with NIST security controls and RMF documentation.
  • Experience with MIL-1553 or ARINC 429 Bus communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of aircraft wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and electrical concepts.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Master's degree.
  • ACARS Communication Protocol Certification.
