About the Role

Trilogy Innovations is seeking a Senior Software Developer with COBOL experience to support our federal customer located in Clarksburg, WV. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team, while taking part in a multi-year initiative to modernize our federal customer's large-scale IT systems. This role requires at least a Secret Security Clearance, and primary work location is remote. The position involves on-call support one week out of every four, with specific response time expectations. The project includes migrating system functionality to a cloud environment, incorporating modern search capabilities, expanding image handling, transitioning search to Elasticsearch, building microservices within containers using OpenShift, and updating database and schema functionalities.

Key Responsibilities

Develops, creates, and modifies general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions.
Designs or customizes software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.
Analyzes and designs databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.
Researches, designs, develops, and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for various applications.
Sets operational specifications and formulates and analyzes software requirements.
Designs embedded systems software.
Applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of work experience.
Active Tier 3 Secret clearance.
Experience with COBOL.
Experience working in an agile environment.
Ability for on-call support, with expectations to respond within fifteen minutes and begin troubleshooting within sixty minutes.
Experience with IBM z14 mainframes, zOS operating system, CICS, DB2, and COBOL is desired.
Experience with AWS, Java, XML is preferred.
