Software Development Engineer I

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the software development tools roadmap to accelerate development teams.
• Implement a CI/CD pipeline supporting broadband, video, mobile, and customer support applications.
• Develop tools to identify, document, and track software defects, working closely with development teams to resolve issues.
• Introduce capabilities for effective A/B testing of releases across test populations.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance testing practices, tools, and methodologies.
• Implement tools to monitor and report on key quality metrics such as defect rates, test coverage, and test execution progress.
• Analyze metrics to identify areas for improvement and leverage developer tools and test automation to transform release processes.
• Use and customize out-of-the-box tools for system instrumentation and monitoring.
• Contribute to creating and maintaining documentation for developer tools and processes.
• Establish and gain acceptance for key results indicated by development pipeline and automation frameworks.
• Use prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions for architecture and software design exploration.
• Advocate for developer tools within the organization and promote a developer-friendly environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 1-2 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, GitOps, software development, and automation.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Golang.
• Experience with Google Cloud environment.
• Understanding of software development methodologies and modern DevSecOps practices.
• Experience automating test cases (unit, functional, and end-to-end tests).
• Proven experience implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions).
• Knowledge of IaC tools like Terraform/Ansible.
• Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium or Cypress.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
• Knowledge of defect tracking systems like JIRA.
• Strong understanding of version control systems (Git).
• Experience with TDD, A/B testing, and continuous testing methodologies.
• Ability to lead process improvement initiatives and analyze testing metrics.
• Understanding of software architecture and design principles.
• Ability to create proof-of-concept prototypes for technical validation.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
• Analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving technical challenges.
• Passion for fostering a developer-friendly environment and continuous learning.
