The Payload and Ground Systems division within Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is known for pushing the boundaries of innovation, redefining engineering capabilities, and driving advances in sciences through cutting-edge technology. Our team develops, designs, produces, and sustains optimized product lines across the sector to provide a decisive advantage to the warfighter. We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the Ground program within the Integrated National Systems Business Unit, working in an Agile environment supporting two programs with a shared baseline, executing 2-week sprints for 3-month increments, and supporting the development of applications for Ground Segment systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, refactor, test, and debug applications software for a Ground Segment.
  • Support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission.
  • Work within an Agile team supporting two programs with a shared baseline.
  • Execute 2-week sprints for 3-month increment deliveries using the Atlassian tool suite.
  • Operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment, reporting to leads and the customer.
  • Handle diverse assignments efficiently, finding unique solutions in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance at the time of application and willingness to sit for a polygraph.
  • Level 2 BS degree plus 2 years of experience; MS degree plus 0 years of experience; or 6 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • Full Stack Developer experience.
  • Pub/sub architecture and Node.js experience.
  • Strong Java experience.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Experience working with a geographically distributed team.

Nice to Have

  • STEM degree.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Software design experience.
  • Software unit testing experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, microservice architecture, and object-oriented design.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance.

  • Salary range from $89,400 to $134,200, depending on location and experience.
  • Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may be available.
