Key Responsibilities

Review code contributions, proposals, and RFCs from colleagues to unblock others and foster collaboration.
Propose and implement new features, capabilities, algorithms, infrastructure, or full products across the tech stack.
Become a mentor, support and develop the interviewing pipeline, and help grow the engineering team.
Share experience and technical know-how through tech talks, learning groups, and office hours.
Maintain and improve the existing software stack, including working with internal and external customers to identify issues, improve operational reliability and performance, and address technical debt.
Further develop tests and benchmarks at micro and macro levels to ensure robustness and reliability.
Present work at weekly demo sessions to gather feedback, celebrate progress, and foster shared understanding among team members.

Requirements

Ability to write legible, maintainable, and performant code.
Good communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
Enjoy collaborating with others, including reviewing code and pair programming.
Comfortable working asynchronously through PRs and RFCs, and discussing via email.
Backend development experience, ideally with languages like Rust, Java, Go, or C++.
Familiarity with backend interface tools such as REST, GraphQL, gRPC/Protocol Buffers, and Arrow.
Strives to improve oneself, peers, and work culture over time.
Belief that ethical considerations are an inherent part of engineering.

Nice to Have

Experience with Rust and Python.
Knowledge of container-based and cloud-native architectures (e.g., Docker, Azure, AWS).
Experience with metrics tooling like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.
Familiarity with SQL and streaming database systems.
Understanding of routing protocols such as IGP, BGP.
Knowledge of cryptographic protocols like Signal, WireGuard.
Experience with hardware interfaces such as Arduino.
Experience with robotics control systems.
Experience with production ML systems.

Qualifications

Relevant experience in backend development.
