About the Role

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. This position will be an estimated 1-2 days per week in the office at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.

Key Responsibilities

Support DoD Software Modernization and Coordination, including development of comprehensive software strategies throughout the DoD acquisition lifecycle.
Coordinate with OUSD(A&S), OSD CIO/CDO, the Services, and other agencies' software staffs to ensure efficient overall software modernization strategies.
Engage in recent and relevant software development activities, including Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders, DoD contractors, and independent consultants on technical assessments, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and improve software program execution.
Perform software and DoD Data Modernization reviews using DoD technical assessment guidance and methodology.

Requirements

BS degree plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
Excellent writing and analytical skills.
DoD secret clearance required.
U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
Experience creating or updating DoD policy, guidance, or training related to Software Engineering or Software Modernization.
Knowledge of advanced or emerging technology areas such as autonomy, artificial intelligence/machine learning, digital/model-based engineering, digital transformation, or data-centric operations.
Experience with current DevSecOps pipelines and supporting technologies, including agile development tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Gitlab) and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).

Qualifications

BS degree and at least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
U.S. Citizenship for security clearance purposes.
