The role of Software Engineer - Accounting at SS&C Advent involves solving complex business problems for the global investment management industry, specifically working on the Geneva platform, a global investment portfolio management application.

Key Responsibilities

Work with a small, highly-talented team to enhance the industry-leading enterprise investment accounting system - Geneva - serving sophisticated clients in hedge funds, fund administration, asset management, and prime brokerage.
Collaborate with product managers to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical designs.
Participate in the design and estimation process, presenting and analyzing alternatives to identify the most desirable solutions.
Build incremental features from the product roadmap, focusing on execution and ownership, integrating new functionality into the existing code base following design principles.
Maintain a commitment to quality through design and code reviews as appropriate.
Work within an Agile Scrum development environment, managing personal time and communicating project plans and status to stakeholders.
Coordinate with development managers to ensure progress on short and long-term projects.

Requirements

BS degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
2+ years' experience in object-oriented programming using C++.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems, specifically RHEL platforms.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and managers.
Excellent problem-solving skills and determination to overcome obstacles.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under time constraints and changing priorities.
Willingness to collaborate across time zones and adapt to flexible working hours.
Detail-oriented, process-focused, self-motivated, proactive, and committed to excellence.
Knowledge of financial instruments and the financial industry, especially back office operations, is preferred.
Experience with institutional portfolio accounting is ideal.
Knowledge of bug tracking and Agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence is helpful.

Nice to Have

Experience with enterprise-wide, large-scale systems development.
Experience with financial concepts and back office operations.

Qualifications

Educational background in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience in object-oriented programming, specifically C++.
