About the Role

At WEX, we simplify the business of running a business. Our WEX Mobility solutions reduce complexity and help manage costs of benefits administration for our clients and partners. We are looking for passionate technologists, collaborators, and problem solvers to join our Mobility Technology team as we build the next generation of employer benefits solutions and services. The role involves designing high-quality software, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting live applications within a dynamic, innovative environment. The position also offers participation in WEXpedition, an 18-month Engineering Development Program aimed at developing versatile software engineering skills through rotations across key business areas, mentorship, and exposure to diverse technologies and challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to learn about our customers' biggest challenges.
  • Work closely with Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to design, build, and iterate on product experiences, defining scope and design.
  • Measure, inspect, and drive decisions using data.
  • Own the development of features, including API design, implementation, automated testing, and rollout.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Build high availability and resilient systems that can scale quickly.
  • Implement and promote engineering best practices such as TDD, BDD, Microservice, and Vertical Slice Architectures.
  • Support live applications with proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze existing systems to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentor peers and foster continuous learning within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with less than 1 year out of school.
  • Must have the viability to relocate to Portland, Maine.
  • Work in a hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in the office.
  • Proficiency in at least one server-side language and enthusiasm to learn others, such as C#, Go, or Java.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across workstreams.
  • Ability to thrive with autonomy and responsibility, thinking entrepreneurially.
  • An appreciation for the connection between software and customer experience.
  • Passion for keeping up with modern technologies and design.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with automation and AI-driven solutions.
  • Interest in developing technical expertise in Corporate Payments and Mobility Products.
  • Experience with building cross-functional collaboration skills through team rotations.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Less than 1 year of professional experience post-graduation.
