About the Role

The Software Engineer - Catalyst SDWAN Manager will be part of Cisco's high-energy team focused on rebuilding and innovating WAN infrastructure through intelligent, scalable, and distributed systems. The role involves working on Catalyst SDWAN Manager, a highly scalable network management and analytics system that handles customer networks, device provisioning, and cloud application connectivity based on intelligent policies. The team emphasizes open, transparent collaboration and cutting-edge technology in SD-WAN, security, analytics, telemetry, and machine learning, offering opportunities for learning and innovation in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in the software development for Catalyst SDWAN Manager as part of a project team of highly skilled engineers.
Define, architect, design, and deliver new features in Catalyst SDWAN Manager.
Craft new features, understand product features, and propose effective solutions.
Write functional and design specifications, develop code, and perform unit and integration testing.
Help review specifications and code to ensure quality standards are met.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 7+ years or Master's degree with 5+ years of experience in all phases of the software development cycle, with exposure to agile methodologies.
Experience in data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills.
Proficiency in Java/J2EE development, with experience in databases such as SQL/NOSQL, Spring, Messaging (Kafka), and Maven.
Basic understanding of OS fundamentals and networking concepts.
Strong motivation, teamwork skills, and the ability to work independently under tight schedules.
Excellent communication skills.

Nice to Have

Experience with designing large-scale, multi-tenant, distributed systems using Java.
Knowledge of Kafka, Neo4J, Elasticsearch.
Experience supporting production systems, solving service stability issues, and performance tuning.
Knowledge of yang models, configuration management, and operational models.
Experience with SD-WAN, networking technologies, and architectures.
Experience building and deploying microservices with Docker, Kubernetes.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies and container networking.
Deep understanding of routing protocols and L2/L3 to L7 technologies.
Experience in enterprise routing and SDWAN architectures.
Automation experience with Python or Perl.

Qualifications

Formal educational background including a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
