About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct meetings with Stakeholders to clarify and understand business requirements.
• Design and implement design solutions based on industry best practices.
• Modify or write new on-line programs, unit test cases, batch programs, interfaces, configuration changes, and reports.
• Build unit tests and integration tests as necessary.
• Ensure proper exception handling and appropriate logging.
• Identify and resolve information assurance weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate closely with end users and administrators to gain an understanding of their data needs, proactively optimize database performance, and uphold data quality standards.
• Work under general direction.
• Formulate/define system scope and objectives.
• Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations.
• Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
• Design, code, test, debug, and document programs.
• Participate in related areas, such as database or application design, implementation, integration, management, maintenance and evaluation of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.

Requirements

• Ability to maintain a DOI Public Trust Clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or area related to the project's functional requirement.
• Two years of technical experience in applications software development, one of which is in systems analysis.
• Knowledge of software languages such as APEX, HTML, Python, PL/SQL, SQL, C#, Perl or other languages.
• Competent to work at a high technical level for most phases of application system analysis and programming activities.
• Competent to work in most phases of database and application development.

Nice to Have

• Use of proven, efficient methodologies to support the Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL) databases.
• Knowledge of design and development of comprehensive database schemas, encompassing tables, views, indexes, triggers, stored procedures, functions, and other essential objects.
• Certificate in software development (APEX, Java, Python, etc.).

Qualifications

• Position requires a DOI Public Trust.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or an alien who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence or employment.
• Resided in the United States for a minimum of 3 years.
