About the Role

The Software Engineer - Firmware at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) is responsible for developing specifications, designs, implementing, and documenting a wide range of software and firmware products. The role involves applying electrical and computer engineering principles and computer science to improve research and development processes, participate in industry technical meetings, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge products at the Boise, Idaho field office.

Key Responsibilities

Develop the specifications, designs, implementations, and documentation for software and firmware products.
Write test plans and conduct design tests.
Prepare and maintain test and design documentation.
Review data sheets and instruction manuals.
Undertake efforts to improve SEL's research and development processes.
Participate in industry technical meetings and conferences as required to meet operational and strategic goals.

Requirements

Experience in developing software and firmware products.
Knowledge of electrical and computer engineering principles.
Ability to write test plans and conduct design tests.
Experience in preparing and maintaining technical documentation.
Strong understanding of industry standards and technical communication.
Ability to participate in technical meetings and conferences.
