The role involves supporting Mainframe applications, maintaining, configuring, and enhancing Mainframe software solutions with minimal oversight, and collaborating within an agile, fast-paced environment that values innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the estimation, design, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing features for the existing portfolio of applications for a business area.
  • Complete complex feature development tasks.
  • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders in the delivery of features.
  • Design, code, configure, unit test, maintain, and document software deliverables using agreed standards and tools.
  • Lead sizing and estimation activities within the agile team.
  • Participate in code reviews and sprint retrospectives, providing ideas for team continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the quality of features through manual and automated testing and continuous integration techniques.
  • Design solutions aligned with company architecture and standards.
  • Lead proof of concept work and prototyping when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts to understand and define business requirements.
  • Work with UX designers to ensure designs can be translated into working solutions.
  • Establish the definition of done for each stage of production within the team.
  • Coordinate with Test Engineers to ensure software meets the definition of done and transitions smoothly through production stages.
  • Promote an innovation culture by continuous improvement and evaluating new processes and technologies.
  • Work with Technical Support Engineers to transition features to production, ensuring application performance and stability.
  • Automate testing to ensure high-quality application delivery.
  • Keep project progress updated in ALM tools and participate in daily standups.
  • Focus on improving customer experience and delighting end users.

Requirements

  • Experience with mainframe development (Cobol, Z/OS, etc.).
  • 4+ years experience with demonstrated success in software development or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of database systems (SQL, DB2, Teradata).
  • Experience with ITIL certification or similar framework.
  • Proficiency with enterprise job scheduling tools (Control M, Autosys, TWS).
  • Experience with .NET and AWS.
  • Knowledge of Azure pipeline and working with Yaml files.
  • Skilled in COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM.
  • Knowledge of SCLM, IMS, CICS, Control-M is a benefit.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems and drive system optimizations.
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong team player capable of working effectively within a team and across organizational areas.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of SCLM, IMS, CICS, Control-M.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant business experience.
