About the Role

Raytheon Company Managed by Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Engineer with a strong interest in the design, development, and maintenance of full-stack AI-based enterprise applications to join our team. The role involves working on program sustainment and modernization efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting customer missions in the aerospace and defense industry. This onsite position requires U.S. citizenship and an active, transferable TS/SCI security clearance. Collins Aerospace is a leader in technologically advanced solutions, and the team helps civilian, military, and government customers complete complex missions with secure communications and missionized systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on program sustainment and modernization efforts spanning the product lifecycle, including customer engagement, requirements definition, software/hardware development & integration, system testing & validation, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate closely with the program team engaging engineers from systems, software, cybersecurity, and infrastructure to ensure product delivery with minimal operational impact.
  • Perform software engineering activities including application development and maintenance, testing, integration, and documentation to ensure proper operation within both factory and operational environments.
  • Adhere to accepted standards and processes for development, including participating in peer reviews, maintaining test environments & coverage, providing feedback for product improvements, and ensuring consistency in quality and performance.
  • Support one of the program Product Owners in executing facets of the program such as sustainment and/or modernization.
  • Work within the Engineering Team to ensure overall system execution is reliable, maintainable, and deployable while meeting operational performance requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years working experience in object-oriented software design and development using Java.
  • Software and system-level debugging experience, including the ability to identify problems in established code and make modifications as necessary.
  • Experience with Configuration Management, Automation tools, continuous integration tools, Linux command line, shell or python scripting.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or 6 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience using Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Atlassian/Jira toolset for task management
  • Git experience

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, debugging, configuration management, automation, Linux scripting
