About the Role

Site Reliability Development combines software and systems development to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Site Reliability Development ensures that Google's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs, and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally, Site Reliability Developers monitor system capacity and performance, focusing on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and eliminating work through automation. The role offers the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale unique to Google, utilizing expertise in coding, algorithms, and large-scale system design. The culture emphasizes intellectual curiosity, problem solving, openness, collaboration, risk-taking in a blame-free environment, and support for learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages during coursework/projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school, work, or Open Source projects.
1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Nice to Have

Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

Qualifications

Educational background includes a Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant fields.
Experience with software development, coding, algorithms, and system design.

Benefits & Perks

US base salary range for this full-time position is $118,000-$170,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, with individual pay influenced by work location, skills, experience, and education.
