Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the team on defining the vision for the relational data access tier in the cloud and to evolve our systems towards it.
Work with team members to design novel approaches to addressing scale and performance challenges associated with exponentially increased usage of our data tier.
Improve the availability and performance of our relational data tier by uplifting our services to run and serve data across multiple datacenters.
Understand client use cases to improve the usability of our data access services, thereby facilitating rapid feature development for application developers on Box's growing platform.
Participate in our on-call rotation, and be available during on-call shifts to respond to and triage any issues that arise.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
3+ years of experience working with software.
Strong understanding of common algorithms, data structures and code design principles.
Strong grasp of high-scale distributed systems.
Passionate about database scale and performance challenges.
Strong sense of ownership, persistence and drive, strong communication skills.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with MySQL, Memcached, and/or Redis.
Passionate about solving database scale and performance challenges.
Excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

Educational background in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
Experience with high-scale distributed systems and relational data services.
