About the Role

We are seeking a software engineer who has experience building user interfaces to help maintain and build out our catalog of native TV applications. The software engineer will engage stakeholders, assist in building features, and maintain existing functionality. We are a close-knit team focused on solving challenging problems that make a difference in our business, delivering high-impact, high-value development. This position requires at least 4 years of experience in UI and OOP language development, ideally C++, and involves working in a collaborative environment in our Dallas office five days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirement and scoping analysis including knowledge of risk analysis methodologies, cost analysis, business objectives, classification of requirements, domain knowledge, user stories concepts, and functional/nonfunctional requirements.
  • Scoping and estimation to understand business, stakeholder, and technical requirements, analyze existing solutions, prepare requirement traceability matrix, create user stories, and contribute to agile development cycles.
  • Coding to create and configure minimalistic code for components, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements, including nonfunctional needs like high availability and scalability, and selecting appropriate languages and tools.
  • Building scripts for automation in CI/CD pipelines, implementing telemetry features, and ensuring security policies are applied during development.
  • Testing by preparing test cases, executing tests, mapping customer requirements to test objectives, and using tools like Selenium, Jira, Eggplant, etc., to detect errors and defects.
  • Program monitoring through metrics, reporting, logging, and ensuring adherence to project milestones via CI/CD processes.
  • Defect management and troubleshooting, including defect tracking, root cause analysis, regression testing, and fixing performance or availability issues.
  • DevOps orientation involving operating systems, maintenance tools, application monitoring, debugging, and system performance/security integration.
  • Performing complex application maintenance, monitoring performance, analyzing logs, evaluating change requests, and providing expert guidance on best practices.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, supporting business solutions, and fostering a culture of respect, integrity, and excellence.
  • Promoting a positive work environment, developing talent, and encouraging continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in UI and OOP language development, ideally C++.
  • Experience building user interfaces and maintaining native TV applications.
  • Knowledge of coding standards, guidelines, and frameworks such as JavaScript, Python, C, ActiveX, .NET, Cocoa, Android, etc.
  • Familiarity with tools like Monday.com, Linx, Embold, and platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Apple iOS.
  • Understanding of testing tools like Selenium, Jira, Eggplant, and test strategies.
  • Experience with defect lifecycle, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes, telemetry, and security policies during development.
  • Minimum educational qualification: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or 4 years' experience in software engineering.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science and experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and creating inclusive digital experiences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in gaming development.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Walmart's accessibility standards.
  • Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
