About the Role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The role involves working on projects critical to Google's needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. The Geo team focuses on building accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for users, enabling developers to utilize Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. The team is dedicated to solving complex computer science problems, designing intuitive product experiences, and improving understanding of the real world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in Objective-C, Java, or Kotlin or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • 2 years of experience in mobile application development (Android or iOS).

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, and designing and building scalable and robust data pipelines to enable data-driven business decisions.
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
  • Ability to structure reports/dashboards to give clarity on insights.

Qualifications

  • Educational background includes a Bachelor's degree or higher, with preferred advanced degrees.

Benefits & Perks

  • US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
  • Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
  • Individual pay is influenced by work location, skills, experience, and education.
  • Compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, excluding bonus, equity, or benefits.
