The position involves developing next-generation network solutions, automating deployment functions, and modernizing security enclaves with thousands of devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating with other engineers in project meetings to provide deliverables within scope and budget.
  • Developing software-based solutions using Python, Java, and web technologies.
  • Developing and maintaining NSO runbook configurations based on customer requirements.
  • Designing, implementing, testing, and supporting application front-end development and document design ideas.
  • Participating in production troubleshooting and issue correction for applications after production implementations.
  • Coordinating with other engineers and solving complex production issues concerning developed software solutions.
  • Predicting emerging customer needs and developing innovative solutions to meet them.
  • Providing weekly status updates to technical and project leads in line with project milestones and tasks.
  • Performing development using system development lifecycles, including requirements, control gates, and documentation.
  • Participating in requirement gathering sessions and collaborating on application architecture design.
  • Working with diverse software and hardware development and operations teams, and coordinating with engineering managers for work schedules.

Requirements

  • Strong or demonstrated hands-on engineering experience with software development using Python, Java, and web technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco Network Service Orchestrator (NSO).
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5.
  • Experience integrating data between disparate systems using REST APIs, Python/Java libraries, and vendor APIs.
  • Knowledge of package/dependency management and build tools for Python/Java (e.g., pip, poetry, maven, gradle, ivy).
  • Experience building and packaging software for deployment across multiple environments, including code coverage, unit testing, mocking, and integration testing.
  • Experience with version control systems such as git.
  • Working in a Linux environment (e.g., Bash shell).
  • Solid understanding of Layer 1-4 fundamental protocols.
  • Provisioning network services such as L3VPN, L2VPN, MPLS.
  • Experience with Python/Java web frameworks like Spring, Flask, Django.
  • Knowledge of network automation using NETCONF or RESTCONF.
  • Familiarity with data modeling languages, specifically YANG.
  • Verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Must have TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • 16 years of experience in related fields, which can include work history and education, with a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Must comply with DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 requirements.

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in Cisco Network Service Orchestration (NSO) runbook development.
  • Knowledge of Unit Test frameworks.
  • Experience with Agile & Scrum methodologies.

Qualifications

  • 16 years of experience in a related technical field, which can be a combination of work history and education.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Ability to work independently and with geographically diverse teams.
  • Effective time management skills to meet deliverables.
  • Compliance with DoD 8570 IAT Level 2.
