About the Role

We are Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) Chassis Management Software team, responsible for developing and maintaining the chassis management software for Cisco's UCS blade server product line. Our team plays a meaningful role in delivering the reliability, performance, and innovation customers expect from Cisco's data center solutions. Collaborating closely with hardware, platform and cloud teams, we help to deliver the future of compute infrastructure. As a software engineer in this team, you will craft, maintain, and support embedded chassis management software for Cisco's UCS products, with opportunities to learn, grow, and influence the future of compute infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement platform chassis management software for next-generation UCS products.
  • Collaborate with hardware, SQA, and other software teams.
  • Investigate and help resolve complicated field issues.
  • Identify and help deliver quality improvements.
  • Support and maintain embedded chassis management software for Cisco's UCS family of products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience in C programming.
  • 5+ years of Linux embedded software development experience.
  • Experience developing and debugging multi-threaded Linux applications.
  • Experience with chassis or baseboard management controller software (CMC, BMC) or similar.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Chassis power management or Chassis thermal management.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Shell (Bash) or Python.
  • Experience implementing proprietary or standard management protocols such as SNMP, IPMI, Redfish.
  • Experience with embedded systems buses such as I2C, PMBus, SPI, PCIe.
  • Socket-based programming and the ability to read schematics.
  • Linux kernel and driver experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 7+ years of experience in C programming.
  • Experience with Linux embedded software development.
