About the Role

This enables real-time decision making to increase the efficiency and safety of operations, promote mission readiness, and protect the environment and civilization from the effects of infrastructure failure. The role involves empowering software engineers by making software effortless to build, deploy, and manage through automation, shared libraries, and DevOps tools, with a focus on cloud architecture and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary owner of Gecko's Cloud, discovering and designing solutions for a well-architected cloud
  • Ensure operational excellence through observability
  • Maintain security, privacy, and compliance standards
  • Enhance reliability, cost, and performance optimization of cloud services
  • Contribute significantly to the Software Platform team's work on automated CI/CD, customer authentication, permission management, and DevOps tool management
  • Optimize the local development experience and facilitate effective onboarding and internal training
  • Architect solutions to achieve necessary certifications (e.g., DoD IL4/5) to enable new business opportunities

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a DevOps role
  • Strong automation and scripting skills
  • Experience with one or more cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Experience with cloud automation, CI/CD, and Docker
  • Proficiency with Linux and command line tools
  • Experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams

Nice to Have

  • Python
  • Experience working with the US Government (DoD specifically)
  • GCP specific experience
