About the Role

Join our mission to create a completely new, 100% digital bank that uses consumer feedback to truly meet customers' best interests. Jenius Bank, a division of SMBC MANUBANK and a member of SMBC Group, is being built by a close-knit and fun-loving team of financial services professionals and technology experts who came together for the challenge of building a full-service digital bank from scratch. We're committed to doing it the right way for the customer and are growing rapidly. The role involves helping to build and design an entire Digital Business Unit for Online Banking, with a focus on middleware/API engineering within a startup-minded environment backed by SMBC Group's extensive history and resources.

Key Responsibilities

Applying design patterns in developing scalable and highly performant application/features.
Writing code and unit tests, automation, conducting code reviews and testing.
Deploying applications to production and managing DevOps processes.
Working with product managers to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and managing technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues.
Managing personal workload effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Quickly generating and updating proof of concepts for testing and team feedback.
Embracing emerging standards while promoting best practices.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or equivalent.
2+ years of Java/functional programming experience.
Knowledge of Kotlin and GraphQL is a plus.
At least 1 year of experience with Cloud stack, such as Microsoft Azure.
Experience designing and supporting customer-facing RESTful APIs.
Thorough understanding of API development and data structure fundamentals.
Good understanding of design concepts and design patterns.
Demonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing.
Aptitude for learning and applying programming concepts.
Team player, self-starter, and passion for programming.
Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, product, and experience owners.
Experience with CICD tools and DevOps.
Experience with financial services is a plus.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Kotlin and GraphQL.
