Job Description

About the Role

KBR is looking for a specialist-level Software Engineer to support the development and maturation of USAF open architecture standards. The team leads architecture development, maturation, and coordination for multiple high-profile programs, focusing on creating and demonstrating open architecture software and capabilities in a complex environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instantiate, develop, and mature open architecture software in a KBR environment.
  • Produce and brief demonstrations of open architecture core software and architecture-compliant capabilities.
  • Quickly understand and navigate complex systems with established code bases.
  • Perform activities related to the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management, and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications.
  • Conduct internal testing of software products and respond to and resolve software discrepancies against documented requirements.
  • Participate in the design, development, and utilization of scientific/engineering electronic data processing systems software.
  • Provide analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software for products such as utility, development, and diagnostic software.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering test strategies, devices, and systems.

Requirements

  • Active TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Experience with C++ development in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with modern commercial software development practices using tools like GitLab, Jira, Artifactory, and Nexus.
  • Experience with collaborative software development in either open source or professional team environments.
  • BS in engineering or computer science and 2 years of related experience.

Nice to Have

  • Government acquisition program experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • Experience with MBSE and design activities.
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools, languages, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with existing DoD open architectures, such as OMS.
  • Knowledge of military systems and operational tactics.
  • Experience developing software/hardware for flight systems.
  • 2+ years in software development in a classified working environment.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or computer science.
  • 2+ years of related experience in software development.
