About the Role

As a Software Engineer for video processing, you will be updating existing software that manipulates compressed video (e.g. AVC, HEVC video data). Software expertise desired includes Web programming, C++, and the Rust programming languages. You will work with collaborative teams to perform technical activities that impact the design, testing, and implementation of systems, software, and applications, including full motion video (FMV) processing capabilities. Our work depends on a Software Engineer joining our team to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense and intelligence services and systems.

Key Responsibilities

Designs, develops, evaluates, plans and tests engineering specifications for software programs and applications
Provide a proactive mindset to maintain and update video encoding technology as part of our overall development environment
Support Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline activities involving end-to-end system performance validation efforts with a focus on communicating effectively with customers, team members, and end users
Work independently under pressure and effectively identify, recommend, and problem solve system issues to ensure systems, software, and applications are properly configured to meet customer needs

Requirements

Experience developing complex software in the Web, C++ and/or Rust programming language
Experience with development, package management and unit testing
Experience with Boost
Experience working with medium/large build systems
Experience in both Windows and Linux
Experience in network programming
Experience with build tools like Makefiles, CMake, Meson, etc
Experience with build systems such as Jenkins, Github actions, Gitlab, etc
Proficiency in Python
REST-API development experience
Education: BA/BS Degree or equivalent
Required Experience: 5 years of related technical experience
Strong hands-on experience
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability
Ability to work on a variety of tasks and technologies
Self-starter with a solid understanding of engineering principles
Ability to multitask and manage multiple operational systems

Nice to Have

Knowledge of video encoding and compression algorithms
Demonstrated ability to inherit, understand, and update existing software
DevOps experience
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Rust experience
Real-time experience

Qualifications

BA/BS Degree or equivalent
5+ years of related technical experience
