About the Role

The Western Digital System Integration Test Lab, located in Rochester, MN, is seeking a Software Engineering Co-Op to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in OOP software development concepts and an interest in hardware, automation, scripting, and storage device validation testing. The team builds internal software tools and automation to assist with system integration (hardware) testing. This position is in-person (5 days/week) in Rochester, Minnesota, with a relocation benefit provided for eligible candidates. The co-op lasts up to 8 months (January-August) based on individual university calendars.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, document, and validate test automation framework improvements, test scripts, and bug fixes (software)
Configure and debug enterprise servers, including storage device installation, OS setup, and network configuration
Engage with technical experts (hardware) and test engineers to understand requirements and restrictions
Participate in feature demonstrations to internal users and management

Requirements

Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related major. The ideal candidate will graduate in 2027.
Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to sponsor an immigration case at any point in the future
Experience utilizing object-oriented design concepts in projects
Familiarity with Linux-based systems via command line
Passion for problem-solving and learning new things
Solid communication skills

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a related technical field
Expected graduation in 2027
