About the Role

The Data Governance team's vision is to build AI-enabled, frictionless, unified governance capabilities for both data and AI to inspire customer trust in Snowflake and empower them to confidently unlock the full potential of their data. As an Engineering Manager in Data Governance, you will lead projects to develop services, systems, and features that help customers detect and protect sensitive data, monitor data quality, and ensure data privacy and compliance within Snowflake's data platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive projects from idea formulation, to design, and to implementation.
  • Drive great partnership with the product management team.
  • Set team strategy and be accountable for team plans, execution, and deliverables.
  • Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team through hiring, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams and cross-functional teams.
  • Provide strong technical leadership to the team and partner teams.
  • Understand industry trends and lead the team to build Data Governance features into Snowflake as an integrated service.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in building large scale distributed systems, including experience in databases and/or data security.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams to build services and frameworks in relevant domains.
  • Demonstrated track record of shipping data governance, security, or compliance offerings in the cloud.
  • Strong experience delivering large scale and resilient distributed systems and services.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong hands-on skills with the ability to drill deep into complex system design and implementation.
  • Experience with database systems and internals such as query engines and optimizers is a plus.
  • Experience with building large scale and sophisticated data pipelines is a plus.
