About the Role

The Wealth Management Data Solutions (WMDS) organization provides direct technology support for core engineering products, operational data products and data analytics. It develops and drives engineering strategy, while enabling tech transformation by partnering closely with WIM product groups. The team develops the engineering blueprint and core components, serves as the liaison to the Enterprise Architecture Group, and is focused on modernizing technology and building agile scrum teams. The role involves leading a cross-functional engineering team within the WIM Data Solutions product group to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure APIs that support the Investment Management platform at Wells Fargo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology.
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture and meet non-functional requirements with each release.
  • Partner with architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, including cloud readiness and application modernization.
  • Function as the technical representative during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for resolving technology roadblocks related to code, build, and deployment, while managing the software development cycle and security standards.
  • Act as an escalation partner for scrum teams to meet high-risk deliverables, removing impediments and encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Build engineering skills within the team, conduct peer reviews, and guide design solutions.
  • Develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within technology functions, managing and mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Owners to influence requirements, drive user satisfaction, and promote innovative solutions.
  • Interact with third-party vendors and technology service providers.
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to meet commitments and strategic objectives.
  • Hire, develop, and guide a culture of talent to effectively deliver innovative solutions and meet business objectives.
  • Partner with stakeholders across product, risk, operations, and compliance to shape and execute strategic technology roadmaps.
  • Drive the transformation of legacy services into modern APIs.
  • Ensure adherence to security, regulatory, and operational risk standards throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Provide architectural oversight on design patterns, data strategies, and performance tuning.
  • Champion agile and DevSecOps practices, including automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide engineering forums, sharing lessons and best practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent, demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering technology solutions in Investment Management, Wealth Management, or Brokerage.
  • 5+ years of experience with API development, real-time messaging, and system integration.
  • 5+ years of experience with Java/.NET, cloud technologies (such as Red Hat OpenShift or Azure), and modern data platforms.

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience in strategic problem-solving with execution discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience with talent development and coaching.
  • 3+ years of experience influencing across lines of business and technology domains.
  • 1+ years of experience with the BetaNXT BETA processing platform.
  • 5+ years of experience modernizing monolithic platforms and working with both on-site and cloud-based infrastructure.
