About the Role

The opportunity is to drive innovation in industrial software systems as a Software Product Engineer at Hitachi Energy, a global leader in high-voltage components. The role involves enhancing the CapDes configurator used for capacitor design, combining core software engineering with research, automation, and client interaction. The position offers the chance to work with cross-functional teams across multiple countries, contributing to design system improvements and business process optimization, within a company that values creativity, innovation, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the key technical interface between software developers, subject matter experts, and end users.
Prepare business cases with clear user stories and analysis for development.
Ensure all user stories are developed per business requirements and identify failure modes to eliminate.
Validate configurator output with test cases before release.
Coordinate tool interfaces (SAP, e-Business, etc.) with configurators as required.
Support the development team with product and logic information in collaboration with SMEs.
Enhance and upgrade design systems using object-oriented programming principles and modern development practices.
Conduct research and development on existing design software to evaluate performance and scalability.
Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
1-2 years of industry experience.
Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as Java and Python.
Experience with RESTful API development, microservices, and SQL databases.
Exposure to Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD and version control systems.
Strong understanding of programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript.
Familiarity with software development methodologies and tools.

Nice to Have

Experience with cloud platforms like Azure.
Knowledge of software performance evaluation and scalability testing.
Experience working with cross-functional teams across different countries.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
