Solutions Architect - Merchandising/Retail

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Acts as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, product teams, and development teams, providing recommendations and influencing decision-making processes for IT solutions and value stream optimization.
• Collaborates with Enterprise Architects to align solution architecture with enterprise architecture standards and vision.
• Responsible for developing and reviewing the solution architecture (blueprint) for products and value streams, including interaction requirements for specific components, subsystems, and interfaces.
• Designs future-proof and scalable solutions, considering hardware, infrastructure, and data constraints.
• Drives simplicity in IT solution design by re-using assets across the enterprise.
• Contributes to the creation of IT/Architecture standards and guidelines.
• Mentors and provides direction to Solution Architects and technical team members.
• Identifies non-functional requirements to meet performance, security, scalability, and availability needs.
• Leads the assessment and adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
• Reviews IT solution designs for alignment with enterprise standards, policies, and procedures.
• Supports program & project delivery teams to embed security, privacy, and regulatory needs into solutions.
• Provides technical support, system monitoring, and issue resolution to ensure operational stability, including during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, CIS or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 8 or more years of relevant experience in technology roles.
• 5 or more years of experience in an advanced or technical leadership role, guiding or onboarding team members.
• 5+ years of practical experience in IT Architecture, software design, and development languages.
• Working knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, microservices, and integration topics like event-driven architecture.
• 5+ years of experience in designing, implementing, or supporting complex application architectures.
• Experience leveraging TDD/CI/CD, build/test automation, containerization (e.g., Git, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, AKS).
• Experience in agile software development lifecycle and technology roadmap planning.
• Knowledge of budget planning and financial management related to applications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Nice to Have

• Masters Degree in relevant field of study, additional certifications (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, Cloud Solution Architect).
• 5 or more years of experience in Agile teams and Product/Platform operating models.
• Experience in retail or grocery industry.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipeline.
• Experience interacting with infrastructure, network, and security aspects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 8+ years of relevant experience in technology.
• 5+ years in an advanced or technical leadership role.
• 5+ years of experience in IT architecture and software design.

• Salary Range: $108,880-163,320 (ME/NC/PA) and $125,200-187,800 (IL/MA/MD).
