About the Role

The Extreme Solution Architect position is a key role within the company's organizational structure that supports SaaS adoption by transforming technical aspects of SaaS solutions into clear business outcomes and value for stakeholders including employees, channel partners, and customers. The role involves driving change internally and externally, providing technology and product consulting, technical sales support, and designing complex solutions that meet diverse end-user requirements. The position emphasizes supporting SaaS product go-to-market strategies and engaging in high-level technical presentations and proof of concept activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support overall SaaS adoption by transforming technical aspects of SaaS solutions into clear business outcomes and value.
  • Provide technology and product consulting and technical sales support for opportunities.
  • Perform high-level and in-depth technical presentations to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with sales teams, product organizations, and marketing teams to define go-to-market strategies for SaaS products and solutions.
  • Support sales teams with RFI/RFP responses and organize and lead Proof of Concept activities and demonstrations.
  • Design complex solutions that meet a wide set of end-user requirements.
  • Own and evangelize SaaS technologies from the sales engineering perspective both internally and externally.
  • Support customer evaluations, demonstrations, and detailed design requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong, successful pre-sales engineering track record in the industry and territory.
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking technologies including Layer 2/3 switching, IPv4/v6 routing, overlay networking, VPNs, Wi-Fi operation, and network security principles.
  • Practical experience in areas such as SaaS business models, managed services, cloud technologies, virtualization, network management, SD-WAN, security solutions, AI/ML fundamentals, scripting, and APIs.
  • Ability to work as part of multiple project teams on design and PoC labs, setting criteria for success.
  • Tenacity and perseverance, especially in customer-facing roles.
  • Ability to build, develop, and maintain a trusted network of customer and partner contacts.
  • Ownership of SaaS technologies from a sales engineering perspective and ability to evangelize them.
  • Experience with major accounts and closing deals.
  • Recognized industry certifications are a plus; Extreme Networks certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of future market trends and support customer evaluations and detailed design requirements.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge and practical experience in cloud technologies and cloud-based network management platforms.
  • Experience with compute and network virtualization principles.
  • Familiarity with network management and orchestration.
  • Experience with SP/WAN technologies and SD-WAN.
  • Knowledge of network- and cloud-security technologies and solutions.
  • Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals.
  • Certifications such as recognized industry certifications or Extreme Networks certifications.

Qualifications

  • Experience in pre-sales engineering within the networking industry.
  • Proven success in technical sales and solution design.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies and cloud solutions.
