About the Role

The Square Marketing Strategic Finance Director at Block, Inc. is a senior leadership role within the Strategic Finance team, focused on improving financial and operational decision-making across Square's marketing functions. The role involves serving as a strategic advisor to marketing leadership, providing data-driven insights, developing financial models, and supporting rapid decision-making to optimize marketing investments and ROI. The position reports to the Head of Finance Strategy for Global Sales, Account Management, Marketing, Partnerships, Pricing, and International, and requires collaboration across various teams to align financial strategies with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic advisor and primary finance partner to Marketing leadership, providing data-driven insights and guidance to inform high-impact business decisions.
Lead and develop a high-performing team, offering mentorship, structure, and direction to ensure continued excellence and professional growth.
Own and evolve financial operating models that deliver deep visibility into Marketing investments, channel efficiency, and ROI, enabling smarter resourcing and investment choices.
Lead high-impact, ad-hoc strategic analyses that support rapid decision-making and unlock value across self onboarding / marketing, and other growth functions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Business Intelligence, Sales, and other teams to assess the financial implications of key initiatives and ensure alignment with company-wide goals.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field.
10+ years experience in investment banking, consulting, or strategic finance.
Proven ability to develop and lead an effective team.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Excellent proficiency in financial modeling and Excel.
Experience with SQL.
Experience with AI.

Experience with AI (preferred).

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
10+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, consulting, or strategic finance.
