About the Role

We're looking for people who put their innovation to work to advance our success - and their own. Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions. We are a leading provider of technology solutions for electrical protection, thermal control, and intelligent infrastructure systems. We're building a new Software Center of Excellence to accelerate solutions to optimize efficiency, reliability, and performance of embedded controls in these systems. As we continue to expand our product portfolio and market presence, we are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Architect to lead architecture of our next-generation IoT platform, and promote thought leadership supporting our next phase of growth in applications for data centers, industrial automation, and battery energy storage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the architectural design process and executional plans, considering scalability, performance, reliability, security, cost and maintainability requirements for a segment-wide IoT platform.
  • Work closely with peers to define new platforms and leverage existing technology where possible to ensure compatibility with product portfolios and future needs.
  • Collaborate with team members, including product managers, engineers, and designers, to cascade architectural goals, requirements, and user needs.
  • Drive the decision-making process by conducting architectural reviews, providing technical mentorship, and presenting recommendations to the development team and management.
  • Promote a clear vision, staying up to date with industry advancements and advancing innovation within the organization.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and industry trends, and incorporate them into the platform architecture.
  • Work across the organization to ensure alignment and integration with complimentary systems and technologies.
  • Mentor and coach engineers on standard processes, design patterns, and software development methodologies.
  • Identify future risks, act as the technical point of escalation when development efforts are no longer on-track for delivery, and lead mitigation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ideally 10+ years experience in embedded software development, with a focus on architecting sophisticated systems and platforms.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing firmware architectures for embedded systems.
  • Strong expertise in embedded programming languages, familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS), and deep understanding of communication protocols such as SNMP, MQTT, and HTTP.
  • Strong experience with security principles and practices, including secure boot, authentication, encryption, and secure firmware updates.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and encourage technical teams and represent the product platform with multi-functional partner teams or leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Availability to work in overlapping time zones with the distributed team.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis including internationally on occasion.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with IoT platform development and deployment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in embedded system security.
  • Experience working in global, cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.

Benefits & Perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans along with flexible spending accounts, short-term and long-term disability benefits, critical illness, accident insurance and life insurance.
  • A 401(k) retirement plan and an employee stock purchase plan — both include a company match.
  • Other supplemental benefits such as tuition reimbursement, caregiver, personal and parental leave, back-up care services, paid time off including volunteer time, a well-being program, and legal & identity theft protection.
