About the Role

This role supports the Nationwide Financial Life Solution Area by providing software engineering capabilities for the ongoing support of the SAP Billing application. The position involves working in a hybrid schedule, coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week, and collaborating with a highly motivated team focused on delivering high-quality outcomes in support of the Nationwide mission. The ideal candidate possesses experience or willingness to learn SAP ABAP development, object-oriented design principles, SQL development, API development, and CI/CD automation, among other technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Familiarity with or willingness to learn developing using the SAP ABAP language.
Object-oriented design principles.
Experience with SQL development.
Knowledge of API development.
Ability to document processes and maintain system configurations.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems.
Ability to thrive in a team environment.
Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or related degree, or relevant technology experience or certificates.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with monitoring tools such as New Relic or Splunk.
Familiarity with code migration and GitHub.
CI/CD automation skills and mindset.
Insurance/financial services industry knowledge.
Leadership skills and competencies.

Qualifications

Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or related field, or equivalent technology experience or certificates.
Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
