Sr. Hadoop Developer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Write code for moderately complex system designs and create APIs.
• Enhance existing programs or develop new programs.
• Review code developed by other IT Developers.
• Provide input to and drive programming standards.
• Write detailed technical specifications for subsystems and identify integration points.
• Report missing elements in system and functional requirements and explain impacts to team members.
• Consult with IT Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Project Managers, and vendors.
• Scope time, resources, and effort required to complete programming projects and seek reviews on estimates.
• Perform unit testing and debugging, setting test conditions based on code specifications.
• Support transition of applications throughout the product development lifecycle and document migration needs.
• Research vendor products and conduct gap analysis or comparisons.
• Include IT controls and follow corporate practices to protect application and data security.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related work experience in IT development.
• 3+ years of professional experience with Spark and Scala in a Lead Developer role.
• Experience with Apache/Kafka and DB2.
• Experience with Hybrid cloud platforms such as OpenShift.
• Related Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with unit testing, release procedures, coding design, and documentation protocols.
• Proficiency using versioning tools.
• Knowledge of information technology fields and computer systems.
• Organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership.
• Strong communication skills for technical information.
• Understanding of the systems development life cycle.
• Proficiency in more than one object-oriented programming language.
• Proficiency with debugging tools and standard desktop applications like MS Office.

Nice to Have

• Experience with flowcharting tools such as Visio.
