About the Role

GDIT, a Federal marketplace leader in next-generation IT solutions and professional services, is seeking highly qualified and motivated IT professionals to contribute to critical Homeland Security missions. The role involves software development and application enhancements on the Mission Systems Lifecycle Support (MSLS) contract using Agile, Kanban, and DevSecOps processes. The position supports the storage and processing of biometric and biographic information for national security, law enforcement, immigration, border management, intelligence, background investigations, and related activities. The successful candidate will develop, support, and modernize mission-critical applications for DHS, with a focus on CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use Java and GoLang development experience to develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications.
  • Provide support and technical advice during conceptualization, development, and implementation phases to transform requirements into working solutions.
  • Work on new development and re-engineering efforts, including making system design decisions.
  • Implement enhancements to existing systems, coordinate with other developers, and perform QA/testing as needed.
  • Support all tiers of software development including UI and Java.
  • Utilize DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven for development and deployment.
  • Develop and support Java Web Services, Spring Boot, and Java EE applications.
  • Engage in web development using UI frameworks, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Program databases using SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Support and set up AWS infrastructure and perform AWS administration.
  • Work with RedHat/OpenShift version 4.x environments.
  • Support and maintain fully automated CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments.
  • Develop build and deployment scripts, and support CI/CD tools integration, operations, change management, and maintenance.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5+ years of development experience.
  • Experience with GoLang and Java programming languages.
  • Experience in Agile development methodology.
  • Experience with complex systems, implementing solutions across 100+ microservices.
  • Ability to coordinate simultaneous deployments to prevent version drift.
  • Experience resolving GoLang versioning compatibility issues.
  • Experience using Jira to support DevOps in an Agile environment.
  • Proficiency with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven.
  • Experience with Java Web Services, Spring Boot, Java EE.
  • Web development skills including HTML and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Relational Database experience (RDBMS).
  • Experience with Docker, AWS administration, RedHat/OpenShift v4.x.

Nice to Have

  • Proven track record as a self-learner keeping current with automated code scanning, testing, CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience with Gitlab or GitHub.
  • Experience in systems design and database programming.
  • Ability to interface with clients on technical design.
  • Experience reviewing modifications for cross-compatibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of development experience.
