About the Role

The Video engineering server team at Apple is seeking experienced software engineers to build highly scalable, low latency backend services and data systems for the Apple TV app. This role involves working on the backbone of the Apple TV app across multiple platforms, handling millions of requests daily to support content discovery, recommendations, live sports broadcasts, and content catalog management. The environment emphasizes innovation, impact, and collaboration with talented engineers to develop industry-defining technologies and services.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain highly scalable backend services and data systems for the Apple TV app.
Design and implement services in Java.
Perform data analysis using Spark.
Work on recommendation, personalization, catalog query, and multi-arm bandit optimization systems.
Integrate AI/ML models into backend services, including concepts like embeddings and reinforcement learning.
Contribute to service reliability and latency optimization efforts.

Requirements

5+ years of related work experience.
Fluent in Java.
Experienced in Spark.
Built backend services for consumer products.
Developed highly scalable micro-services.
BS in Computer Science or a related domain.
Engineering experience in recommendation systems and personalization.
Comfortable with AI/ML concepts such as embeddings and reinforcement learning.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of AI/ML embeddings.
Experience in the video domain.
MS in Computer Science.

Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or a related domain.
5+ years of relevant work experience.
