About the Role

This Senior Staff Applications Operations Engineer role is responsible for supporting and maintaining critical applications and related data processing platforms and services supporting the Digital Technology Quality Operations space. The role ensures the team has the facilities, tools, resources, and skills needed to deliver on commitments while tracking ongoing execution and delivery of Application Operations delivery SLAs, critical knowledge-based documentation, and development of talented resources capable to deliver on execution metrics. It involves leading support teams, managing metrics related to incident management, change controls, support coverage, and provisioning, and supporting a portfolio of business-critical applications used throughout Engineering, Supply Chain, MRO sites, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for necessary changes and pursue or lead them when appropriate.
  • Evaluate progress and involve peers and team members in analyzing strengths and weaknesses in performance.
  • Break down major deliverables into smaller, manageable components and re-appropriate existing solutions to new requirements and situations.
  • Innovate and integrate new processes and/or technology to add value to GE.
  • Proactively learn new solutions and processes to address problems.
  • Establish and communicate team members' roles in relation to their function and data.
  • Share knowledge, build trust, credibility, and goodwill amongst peers, team members, and leadership.
  • Coordinate role responsibilities with others to achieve business goals and deliverables.
  • Encourage groups to work together to resolve problems and work with others to achieve goals.
  • Mentor junior team members and foster relationship building within and outside the team.
  • Act as a change agent by identifying opportunities for change and leading initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership on communication strategies that drive organizational direction with measurable results.
  • Provide consultation on projects, data infrastructure, and system modifications to meet project goals.
  • Work with Technical Product Managers and senior leaders to communicate risks, impacts, and mitigation plans.
  • Identify future roadblocks and promote data-based problem solving.
  • Assess and prioritize problems in relation to organizational goals and manage conflicts.
  • Determine the need for theoretical explanations versus actionable business answers in presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience, or an Associate's degree with at least 6 years of experience, or a High School Diploma with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; sponsorship for visas is not provided.
  • Strong knowledge of software design and coding principles.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Familiarity with versatile implementation options.
  • Demonstrated initiative to explore alternative technology and approaches.
  • Ability to analyze impact of technology choices and document problem statements.
  • Experience partnering with users and product teams to understand operational needs and support models.
  • Ability to communicate operational status to users and leadership.
  • Proactive critical thinking and mentorship skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6 years with an Associate's degree, or 8 years with a High School Diploma.
