Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of backend services that power Clover's online shopping experience, shaping the future of retail for our merchants.
Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and design teams to turn business needs into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
Write, test, and debug advanced Java code, ensuring performance and reliability across our platform.
Design and implement RESTful APIs for mobile apps, web dashboards, payment devices, and third-party integrations.
Own your services end-to-end—from initial development through deployment, monitoring, and support in production.
Guide and mentor junior engineers, helping grow the team's technical expertise and best practices.
Participate in thoughtful design and code reviews to maintain code quality and promote learning.
Work with infrastructure partners to build robust, scalable data models that support high-availability services.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.
10+ years of professional software development experience.
8+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
5+ years of experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
4+ years of experience designing and implementing APIs.
4+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
4+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
4+ years of experience in Agile development environments.

Nice to Have

Experience in the financial services industry.

Qualifications

Educational background in Computer Science or Engineering (preferred).
